Since its beginning in 1958, the City of Schertz has maintained, at the forefront, its desire to focus on the quality of life enjoyed by our residents. Schertz Parks & Recreation promotes that quality of life by providing a diverse blend of parks, recreation activities, and open space areas to accommodate the current and future needs of Schertz’s residents. With over 30 Parks, Athletic Fields and Recreation Facilities in the City of Schertz, there are amenities for everyone. Some of the amenities in the City of Schertz has been maintained to meet the needs of the community including swimming pools, ball fields, fitness facilities, hike trails, pavilions, natural parks safe pedestrian ways, social gathering places and so much more! As we focus on the quality of life, we encourage you to focus on yours and explore a park.
Perfect for your next big celebration! Park Pavilions are available in various Schertz city parks. Currently, only the picnic pavilions (3 small, and 1 large) located in Pickrell Park are available for reservation. For those interested in reserving a pavilion, please visit CivicRec.
Explore the natural world by participating in Nature Education events hosted by the City of Schertz Parks and Recreation and local volunteers. Sign up for FREE events like the Nature Discover Series, Birding Walks, or the Star Party. When events are not being hosted, host your own at the self-guided interpretive trail at Crescent Bend Nature Park.
The City of Schertz has a history of hosting community events that make everyone feel welcome. From the variety of events held in the Music & Movies in the Park series to the annual 4th of July Jubilee, residents and visitors have many opportunities throughout the year to enjoy a family-friendly atmosphere with some great entertainment. The Schertz Area Senior Center is owned by the City of Schertz and managed through a partnership with the Schertz Family YMCA. The Schertz Area Senior Center membership offers monthly activities, special events and a free lunch program!
The Schertz Recreation Center is owned by the City of Schertz and managed through a partnership with the Schertz Family YMCA. Membership to the Schertz Family YMCA includes access to the recreation Center, Aquatic Center, Rock Wall, and the Splash Pad plus all the activities and amenities in each facility.
Grab a few friends and create a team or register as an individual! Schertz Parks and Recreation offers seasonal programs such as the Adult Social League and Tactical Laser Tag. Keep an eye out for registration on CivicRec!
The Schertz Parks and Recreation Department owns several recreational and competitive sports fields and manages those fields through partnerships with local youth sports associations like Schertz Youth Soccer Alliance (SYSA) and the Buffalo Valley Youth Association.
