ANIMAL SHELTER CLOSURE NOTICE
Please be advised that the Schertz Animal Shelter will be closed to the public due to renovations to the floors. The facility is anticipated to open in early May. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We are pleased to announce that these extensive renovations will allow us to provide the very best shelter and care to animals seeking new homes.
During the renovation period, Animal Shelter operations will proceed as normal. If you wish to adopt an animal, visit our Petfinder to view all adoptable pets. If you would like to visit an animal, call us at (210) 619-1550 to set up an appointment (Appointments are available Monday - Friday, 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Saturday, 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM).
If you have found a lost animal and would like to bring it to the shelter or need to claim a pet from the animal shelter, come by the Police Department, 1400 Schertz Parkway, Bldg. 6 (Monday - Friday, 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Saturday, 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM). If you do not feel comfortable approaching a stray animal, call us at (210) 619-1550 so we can send an Animal Control Officer to assist.

The Schertz Animal Services Division of the Police Department enforces the City’s Animal Ordinance and Texas Laws relating to animals, provides an animal adoption program, picks up and shelters stray, sick and/or injured animals, and investigates animal cruelty and neglect.
To register your animal with the city, bring your current rabies vaccination to the animal shelter. City licenses expire with the rabies certificate, and are available for both one year and three year vaccinations. The current price for a city license is $5 a year for sterilized animals and $10 a year for non-sterilized. For more information, call 210-619-1550.
