Mission Statement
Fire Prevention is recognized as an essential component in the overall fire suppression effort. The Fire Marshal's Office main objective is to reduce the risk of fires thus protecting the lives and safety of the citizens, the responders, and the customers in the City of Schertz. We do this through code interpretation, code enforcement, plan reviews, inspections, and public safety education.

- 2018 Edition - International Fire Code
- 2018 Edition - International Building Code
- 2018 Edition - NFPA 101 (Life Safety Code)
- Ordinance 21-C-09 effective on April 6, 2021.
FIRE HYDRANTS
Any public improvement plans or civil construction plans submitted on or after May 1, 2015 will be required to utilize Storz Connections on all new fire hydrants. Please review the Schertz Water Details Fire Hydrant section (PDF) for design.
Knox Box
A signature is no longer required for Knox orders. Approved Knox items can be found on the Knox website.

Burn Permits
As of Saturday, October 26, 2019 the burn ban in the Schertz area has been lifted.
Fees are $25 per year for residential and $150 for commercial per year
