Schertz Turns 60

Sunday, October 7

4:00 - 8:00 PM

Schertz Main Street

The City is recognizing 60 years of incorporation, and we want to bring our community out to celebrate! We are taking the festivities to Schertz Main Street for an exciting evening of fun. Connecting the past with the present, enjoy the music of SoundCream Airstream, a unique music experience that will have you tapping your toes and dancing the night away.

Take a break from the dancing and enjoy local food and refreshments, craft and retail vendors, photo booth, and the Settlers Corner with the Schertz Historical Preservation Committee. Bring the entire family out to the Family Zone featuring a tie-dye station, junk art competition, games, inflatables and more. Mingle with City Council and the Mayor while enjoying special anniversary cupcakes and  handcrafted root beer. The evening will conclude with a fireworks spectacular!

Crafters of all ages and skill levels are invited to participate in the City of Schertz Junk Art Competition. All entries must be made from items that have served as one purpose and remade into art, for example an old sweater made into a stuffed animal, cereal box turned into a file organizer, plastic bottles into a light or even some tin turned into a sculpture. The sky is the limit.

A panel of judges will review entries by age category and select a finalist from each group. A Best-in- Show winner will be named out of all finalists and will receive a special Plaque of Recognition. Each category will be awarded 1st, 2nd, 3rd Place ribbons, and all participants will receive a certificate of completion.
