My family has had the good fortune to have the Baldwin family as our neighbors for 40+ years and it is hard to imagine the neighborhood without him in it. He was a kind and generous man with a genuine concern for others. It showed in his commitment to our community. My prayers go out to Barbara and the Baldwin family, we are so sorry for your loss.

I met Mayor Baldwin first as a voter and talked with him many times as a volunteer for the Playscape and the Library. He was a great man who always had time to talk with people. The last time I saw him, I told him I looked forward to voting for him again. Schertz has much to be thankful for because of him. My prayers go out for his family.

My husband and I were EMT’s with Hal and Barb back into the 70′s We always had just that much more confidence when they were on our crew.
Since then we see them occasionally but always think of them as great personal friends.
Barb, we love you so much along with all the family. I was so impressed with your poise thru all this. Love you so much girl.

We have known Hal and Barb since the 70′s when we all were EMT”S on the then volunteer ambulance service called SAFES. Anytime we were teamed with them we knew that we could handle anything that we came across in the field.
Through the years we never stopped thinking of them as close personal friends.

My sincere sympathy to the entire Baldwin family. Mayor Baldwin was such a nice, nice man and always had a smile for everyone he met. I thank him for all he did for Schertz and thank him for his service to our country. You and yours are in my prayers.

I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Mayor Baldwin personally and professionally for over 15 years, and can say without a doubt he was absolutely the finest human being I’ve ever served with. Not just a politician but a friend and a mentor. Always Eager to listen with his heart and lead with his wisdom. You are missed old friend, missed indeed!

Kyra and I are still shocked about the passing of Mayor Baldwin. Having known him for the past 9 years has been a blessing…and it is difficult to imagine the City of Schertz without him. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Barbara and the rest of his family.

I did not know Mayor Baldwin as much as many of you, however, he is one of few people that I would have liked to known more. When I retired at AFPC as Chief of Enlsted Assignments, I had a nickname (somehow)of the
“Next Mayor of Schertz”. When the Mayor cut our grand opening ribbon years ago for Realty Excutives Lone Star – Simmonds Group at I-35 and FM 3009, we kidded about the nickname. Even though I have no idea how the nickname came about – the City of Schertz was in the hands of a totally dedicated civic leader – Mayor Hal Baldwin

I recently moved into the City Limits of Schertz. While I did not know the Mayor personally, I grew to respect his leadership for the City and his accomplishments.
