July 4th Jubilee kicks off at 6 PM Today, July 3rd

Hsssssssssssssssss! BOOOOOOOOOM!!

That is the sound of fireworks streaking skyward and exploding into nighttime rainbows of brilliant colors at the 37th annual Schertz Fourth of July Jubilee.

The popular fireworks display starts at 9:15 p.m., Wednesday, July 4th in Pickrell Park, but there is plenty to see and do before that.

Admission is free for the two-day Jubilee that begins Tuesday, July 3rd with the 6 p.m. carnival and 7 p.m. musical entertainment at Pickrell Park, on Aero Avenue at FM 1518.

Performing on stage will be veteran South Texas favorite Cactus Country.

Jubilee is co-sponsored by H-E-B, Walker Partners, Bexar Waste and Schertz Bank & Trust.

Jubilee will be a rocking and rolling party of pageantry, parade and patriotism. The almost-world-famous Schertz Barbecue Cook-off begins at 7 a.m. Wednesday. Ribs are on the menu; cash prizes totaling $750 will be awarded.

The Jubilee’s famous Fourth of July parade begins at 9:30 a.m. with hundreds of marchers, bands, floats, vintage vehicles and more. The parade starts at Buffalo Drive near Clemens High School, travels down Schertz Parkway to Main Street, then turns onto Oak Street and ends at Pickrell Park.

Opening ceremonies will kick-off with a noon start under the pavilion.

A family-friendly carnival and scores of food and beverage booths carry Jubilee into the night where anticipation grows for bright stars and colorful, magical lights, courtesy of the fireworks show.

The Jubilee celebration is hosted by the Schertz Parks & Recreation Foundation; proceeds benefit local programs and help fund improvements to the park. Stay up to date with activities at www.VisitSchertz.com
