For the Junior Officers

Schertz Junior Academy

Last year, the Schertz Police Department hosted a Junior Academy with great success. This year, the Schertz Police Department was pleased to announce it would be hosting its second Junior Police Academy.

The camp is open to boys and girls that reside in the City of Schertz, and are from the ages of 8-11, with one class for the 8-9 and one for 10-11 year olds. The first academy was in June and the second in August 2015.

The camp covers topics like internet safety, bullying, forensics, basic Texas laws, Fire, and EMS. It will be a great way to meet new people, team build, and get a first-hand look into law enforcement and emergency services.

The camp runs from 8:00am to Noon during the scheduled week.

2017 Camp Dates:

Alpha Class (8-9 year olds) June 19-23, 2017

Bravo Class (10-11 year olds) July 10-14, 2017

Applications can be picked from the lobby of the Police Department during normal business hours or downloaded here.

Come join us this summer for activities, fun, and friends! We will be looking forward to having you as our next Junior Officer!

Schertz Explorers

The Schertz Police Department recently partnered with the Boy Scouts of America to form the Schertz Police Explorers program. This program is open to young men and women from aged 14 to 20 years old with an interest in learning more about careers in the field of Law Enforcement.

Law Enforcement Exploring provides educational training programs for young adults on the purposes, mission, and objectives of law enforcement. The program provides career orientation experiences, leadership opportunities, and community service activities. The primary goals of the program are to help young adults choose a career path within law enforcement and to challenge them to become responsible citizens of their communities and the nation.

When do meetings take place?

The Schertz Explorers meet at the Police Department Training room from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm every other Wednesday.

Program Costs:

The Law Enforcement Career Exploring program is very affordable with an annual program participation fee of $24. Special activities, events, leadership academies and conferences may cost more and would be determined by Post Advisor.
