[ARCHIVED] City Closures & Cancellations


In an effort to practice social distancing and minimize the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus), the City of Schertz will be canceling programs and activities, and continue with the closure of City facilities until further notice in cooperation with the Governor’s Executive Order GA14. The City will re-evaluate its position as the situation evolves.

  • Closed facilities include:
    • Schertz Civic Center
    • Park pavilions, playgrounds, restrooms, and water fountains
    • Schertz Public Library
    • Schertz Senior Center
    • Schertz Recreation Center 
    • Schertz Aquatics Center
    • City buildings will be closed to the public. The drive-thru window at City Hall will remain open for utility payments and so will the Police Department lobby.
  • The City has canceled all city-sponsored social events and activities including:
    • Movin on Main (April 5)
    • Breakfast with the Heat at Schertz Family YMCA (March 21)
    • Star Party (March 28)
    • Music and Movies in the Park (March 28, April 18, April 25)
    • Community Shred Day (March 28) - POSTPONED
    • Easter Egg-stravaganza (April 3)
    • Schertz EMS First Aid, CPR, and C.R.A.S.E. and Stop the Bleed classes
    • Nature Discovery Series Events
    • Crescent Bend Birding Walks
    • Community Volunteer Fair Volunteer Roundup (April 16)
    • Easter Camping and Sunrise Services in City Parks
