One way for the City of Schertz citizens to actively participate in local government is to become involved as a member of a board or commission. The City is currently accepting applications for several city boards and commissions including the Board of Adjustment (one alternate position), Building & Standards Commission (one alternate position), Historical Preservation Committee (two regular member positions), and the Library Advisory Board (two alternate positions).
Applications can be e-mailed to firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com or faxed to (210) 619-1039. For more information contact the City Secretary’s Office at (210) 619-1030.
The City of Schertz City Code of Ordinances establishes that persons who have resided in the City for at least twelve (12) months shall be considered for appointment to City boards and commissions unless otherwise provided in the Code.
Nominations to boards and commissions, unless otherwise provided by the Charter or the Code of Ordinances, shall be made by the Council members. The City Council shall confirm nominations for appointments to the board or commission in order for an appointment to be effective. Nominations are made as vacant positions need to be filled.
