Reporting on Local COVID-19 Case Counts

Case-Update

The City of Schertz aims to provide the most accurate and up to date information on cases in our area in order to keep residents safe and informed. However, due to the recent spikes in COVID-19 cases across the state, local jurisdictions are receiving delayed confirmation for cases in their area. This reporting challenge has prompted the City to create a new webpage that is intended to educate residents on the manner in which each county reports cases and how that impacts the City’s numbers.

"We are updating our new COVID-19 local cases webpage with current county and city numbers as they are reported. We also explain the rationale for why these numbers are reported as they are. Therefore, you will see a section that shows reporting for each county followed by a section with City of Schertz numbers," explained City Manager Dr. Mark Browne. "The number of cases for the City of Schertz is going to be delayed while the state works to investigate the large number of cases currently being reported. While we work through this situation, we encourage residents to take personal precautions such as wearing a mask, washing hands, social distancing, and staying home when possible.  By working together, we can again flatten the curve and ensure our businesses stay open."
