Live Oak Intersection Traffic Detour

Traffic Detour

As we continue the Schertz Parkway Reconstruction Project, it is now necessary to close E. Live Oak Road at Schertz Parkway in order to reconstruct the northbound lanes of Schertz Parkway through the intersection of E. Live Oak Road and to widen Live Oak Road at the intersection. The closure will begin tomorrow Wednesday, December 13th and will continue until approximately December 29th weather permitting. Two way traffic on Schertz Parkway will remain open throughout the duration of the closure.

Because of the closure, a detour for local traffic attempting to move from Live Oak Road to Schertz Parkway (and vice versa) will be routed through the Misty Woods and Mesa Oaks Subdivisions.  Access to the convenience store and day care will be available from Live Oak Road into the convenience store parking lot during this intersection closure.  Engineering believes that access to the day care from Schertz Parkway will re-open in conjunction with or possibly before the Live Oak Road intersection reopening.

In an effort to encourage non-local traffic to use alternate routes, such as Woodland Oaks Drive and Elbel Road,  to travel between F.M. 3009 and Schertz Parkway signage is being posted on F.M. 3009 approaching Live Oak Road encouraging the use of these alternate routes. One of our goals is to minimize any non-local use of the neighborhood roadways.  Another goal is to not make the neighborhood only exit onto Live Oak Road/FM 3009.

Thank you for your patience and understanding while we work to reconstruct this critical intersection in our City.
