The Schertz City Council approved an Ordinance, June 23, 2009, amending the city's Drought Contingency and Water Emergency Response Plan. The amendment, presented by Schertz Public Works, clarified Section IX of the plan by permitting residents to use handheld watering devices, including hoses, when watering their lawns between the hours of 10 AM and 8 PM. According to Schertz Assistant City Manager David J. Harris, the amendment was proposed and adopted because there was some confusion amongst residents as to when they are allowed to water their lawns. While Schertz has year round outdoor sprinkler watering restrictions between 10:00 am - 8:00 pm daily, the use of a handheld hose or other handheld watering device or a drip irrigation system can be used at any time. |
