Interim Police Chief Bane started his career with the City of Schertz Police Department in October of 1996, assigned to the Patrol Division. In 1998, he transferred to the Investigations Division and then promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 1999, moving back to the Patrol Division.
In 2006, Chief Bane moved back to the Investigations Division and was then promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in 2007, being tasked with overseeing Investigations, SWAT, Communications, and the Records Division.
In 2009, he was promoted to the rank of Captain, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Police Department and helped create the department's Student Resource Program in 2012. In 2013, he was promoted to the rank of Assistant Chief of Police. Following the retirement of Police Cheif Hansen at the end of 2021, Bane was announced as Interim Police Chief.
Chief Bane holds a Master Peace Officer License and is a graduate of the Leadership Command College (LEMIT) through Sam Houston State University. He also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Waldorf University.
