Lieutenant Joshua Mixon began his career with the City of Schertz in 1998 as a volunteer with SAFES EMS. He became a full-time employee with Schertz EMS in 1999 and while attending San Antonio College became a commissioned Peace Officer. He began his career at the Police Department in 2000 as a Patrol Officer. During his time on Patrol, Lieutenant Mixon showed a passion for drug and DWI enforcement and soon became a Field Training Officer and later the Department’s Field Training Coordinator.
Lieutenant Mixon first promoted to the rank of Corporal and then Sergeant. He served in different Units within the Department to include Investigations and Traffic as a motorcycle Officer.
The last few years Lieutenant Mixon has focused on juvenile intervention and school safety with the School Resource Unit. He played an intricate role in the establishment of the Standard Response Protocol which is used at all SCUCISD campuses and facilities.
Lieutenant Mixon has been awarded numerous citations for outstanding service including the Life Saving award and Law Enforcement Purple Heart.
