Schertz offers exceptional access to a wealth of regional assets that include top-rated public and private universities, community college districts, and first-tier research and development centers. These assets offer Schertz residents the opportunity for lifelong learning. Sixteen area institutions enrolling nearly 175,000 students in the area, businesses in Schertz have ready access to a highly-skilled and trained workforce. Nearly two-thirds of Schertz residents have some college or a bachelor’s degree, and these tremendous regional resources continue to offer Schertz’s population with unmatched educational opportunities. There are five universities within 30 miles of Schertz:

• Trinity University
• St. Mary’s University
• University of the Incarnate Word

  The Alamo Community College District (ACCD) serves the San Antonio region through its programs and services that help students acquire the knowledge and skills needed in today’s world. Five colleges comprise the district and offer associate degrees, certificates and licensures in occupational programs that prepare students for jobs, as well as arts and science courses that transfer to four-year colleges and universities and lead to AA and AS degrees. Spring 2007 enrollment totaled more than 53,000 students. Ten miles north of Schertz along IH 35 is the Central Texas Technology Center (CTTC). This new institution provides workforce education to the regional area to help stimulate economic development. The CTTC further offers a wide range of academic, technical and continuing education programs to include the granting of Associate Degrees through the colleges of the ACCD.
