CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
The Schertz Police Department employs the most professional and qualified Texas Peace Officers to positively represent the City of Schertz and the law enforcement community. As of 2023, the Schertz Police Department has 56 sworn Peace Officers and does have a Reserve Officer program for those who are interested. To maintain its operational strength, the Department periodically conducts hiring processes when vacated positions become available. Positions frequently become available due to several reasons such as retirements, promotions, and personnel moves.

Starting Salary: $55,171.22 ($26.52/hour)

Qualifications
Schertz Police Department officer candidates must:
- Be at least 21 years old and not over 45 years old
- Have a high school diploma or GED certificate
- Have a valid Texas driver’s license
- Have completed the Basic Peace Officer Course by date of hire
- Pass a Written Exam
- Pass a Physical Agility Test
- Pass a Polygraph Test
- Participate in an interview panel
- Pass a Medical Exam
