CPR/First Aid Courses
Schertz EMS is an American Health & Safety Institute Training Center and an American Heart Association Training Site. We offer a variety of courses to meet your needs. All course descriptions and pricing are listed below.
We offer Community Courses once per month at our facility, these courses require sign up ahead of time via phone or website. Payment can be made by phone, in person or online and is required at the time of sign up. Payment will be considered confirmation of your attendance. We do not offer refunds.
If you have a group that you would like to be trained at your facility at a convenient time for you, we have that option available as well. If you have questions, would like to sign up for a class or would like to set up a course for your group, please contact our office at 210-619-1410.

Course Descriptions
ASHI CPR/AED
This course teaches how to recognize cardiac arrest, activate emergency medical services and respond appropriately until additional assistance arrives. It also covers how to respond to urgent choking situations. This course covers information regarding adults, children and infants. Approximately three hours is needed for this course and successful completion of the course will result in a two year certification. It is offered once per month in our EMS Training Room but group courses of 5 or more students may be scheduled at a convenient time and location for your group.

ASHI First Aid
This course covers first aid basics and prepares students to deliver first aid in a safe and timely manner for both adults and children. It also shows how to prevent injuries and illnesses. Approximately two hours is needed for this course and successful completion of the course will result in a two year certification. It is offered once per month in our EMS Training Room but group courses of 5 or more students may be scheduled at a convenient time and location for your group. *This course is for adult first aid. Please call to schedule a pediatric first aid class.

AHA BLS for Healthcare Provider
This course is designed for the professional healthcare provider and covers managing the cardiac arrest inside of a healthcare facility or in the pre-hospital professional setting. Key points including checking for a pulse, compressions and the use of a bag-valve mask for respirations. Approximately four hours is needed for this course and successful completion of the course will result in a two year certification. We do not have any regularly scheduled classes established for this course, however, we will work with you and your facility to set up training for your team of 5 or more people at either your location or ours. AHA Heartcode BLS Skills Testing
Register for the Heartcode BLS online course.
This skills testing session can be completed once the online classroom portion of the AHA Heartcode BLS training has been completed. Once you complete the course and have printed out the certificate, you may call our office or register online to schedule your skills testing session. We do not have set times that we schedule these sessions, we do our best to work with your schedule and our instructors' availability to complete your testing. Once you successfully complete the online portion and your skills testing session, a two year certification card will be issued to you.
