PLEASE NOTE: Because of COVID-19, the TexShare Card program has been temporarily suspended at many libraries. We are continuing to issue TexShare cards, but your ability to use them may be limited. Contact other TexShare libraries directly to see if they are currently participating in the program.
The TexShare Card Program is a statewide library card that allows you to use materials from participating libraries throughout Texas.
Schertz Public Library patrons are able to borrow materials from library collections all across Texas by using a special library card called the TexShare card. The card is accepted in a wide variety of public and academic libraries, allowing borrowers in good standing access to thousands of books, DVDs, CDs and other materials. There are no fees attached to the TexShare Card.
To qualify for a TexShare card, you must be at least 16 years old and a registered library cardholder in good standing of the Schertz Public Library for at least 3 months. If you wish to apply for a TexShare card, present your library card and photo ID at the circulation desk. Once issued, the TexShare card can be taken to any other participating library and used to obtain borrowing privileges at that library. TexShare cardholders must observe the lending policies of participating libraries. More than 500 libraries in Texas currently participate in the TexShare Card program. To see which libraries participate in the TexShare Card program, visit the Texas State Library and Archives TexShare information page. Visit our library’s Texshare card policy page to read the policy in full.
The TexShare card is a component of TexShare, a service from the Texas State Library and Archives Commission that encourages cooperation and resource sharing between Texas libraries to fulfill the information needs of all Texans.
