Get Prepped

Saturday, September 24, 2022

September is National Preparedness month and it’s time to Get Prepped! Disasters can happen anywhere, any time. That’s why it’s important that you and your family are prepared before a disaster strikes. Do you have a plan for yourself, your pets, and your family? Consider the specific needs you might have in an emergency. If you aren’t sure where to start then join the City of Schertz for the Get Prepped Emergency Preparedness Block Party on Saturday, September 24 as we equip our residents to be better prepared and help build a community that is resilient in times of disaster.

Attendees will have several opportunities to participate in various emergency preparedness demos and classes throughout the event. Sessions will be held on post-disaster first aid, securing your home after a disaster, fire safety in and around the home, and leveraging insurance post-disaster. The event will also feature a touch-a-truck-style event with static displays of emergency vehicles throughout the event area. Tours of the fire, police, and EMS stations will be available along with refreshments while supplies last.

Schertz Animal Services will be in attendance as well offering discounted adoption fees ($35 dogs, $15 cats), microchipping for $15, and discounted vaccinations. There will be a kids' activity zone for families and lots of great giveaways!

The block party will be held at the Hal Baldwin Municipal Complex from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. This is a free event open to all members of the community. For more information, follow the City of Schertz?or Schertz Fire Rescue on?social media.
