[ARCHIVED] Update Regarding Residential Trash Services

COVID-19 Update

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation and the preventative measures in place which are requiring more families to be at home, Republic Services will be making a service change regarding yard waste effective March 23, 2020 through April 6, 2020.

Due to the recent dramatic increase in the amount of household waste, Republic Services routes are struggling to finish on the specified route day. In addition to these unprecedented times, it also happens to be the time of year when live oaks shed their leaves and there has been an increase in the number of yard waste bags being placed on the curb as well.

Beginning Monday, March 23, Republic Services will be limiting pick up service to one bag of yard waste per household per pickup. NOTE: This does not affect regular trash and recycling pickups. This only applies to additional bags of yard waste. The priority during this time is ensuring garbage and recycling waste are off the streets first. As we all work through these changes and continue to adapt to changes around us, Republic Services will continue to explore other options to increase capacity.

Due to the dynamic nature of this situation, Republic Services will reevaluate prior to April 6 to see if this limit can be altered.

UPDATE:

Republic Services is providing dumpsters to allow residents to use for dumping their yard waste. In addition, typical residential garbage will also be allowed. (No bulky trash, such as furniture, appliances, etc.) The trash must be bagged. Dumpsters will be delivered to three locations on Wednesday, March 25.

Dumpster 1
Location 1400 Schertz Parkway behind The Chamber (Kramer House)

Dumpster 2
Location Crescent Bend NaturePark 12780 W. Schaefer Rd.

Dumpster 3
Location 3501 Morning Dr.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation during this time. If you have questions or if you need further clarification, please contact businessoffice@schertz.com or call (210) 619-1100.
