Enhancing Our Local Economy
The City of Schertz Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) - in partnership with the City and area counties - celebrates Economic Development Week from May 9-13. Economic Development Week was established by the International Economic Development Council to increase awareness of local programs that create jobs, advance career development opportunities, and increase the quality of life of communities.
Within the City of Schertz, economic development efforts are led by the SEDC, a non-profit industrial development corporation that was established by Schertz residents in 1998. The mission of the SEDC is to grow the Schertz economy through projects; specifically - projects that focus on the creation/retention of primary jobs and infrastructure improvements.
Within the last 18 months, the SEDC has helped three Fortune 500 companies expand jobs, investment, and operations in Schertz and funded infrastructure improvements such as the reconstruction of Tri-County Parkway. Additionally, the SEDC has also worked with local school districts on events such as Job Shadow and Manufacturing Days as well as hosted regional job fairs and round tables that foster open dialogue, identify challenges, and promote sharing of information and best practices.
