[ARCHIVED] Burn Ban in Effect

The City of Schertz has implemented a burn ban across the City on outdoor burning.

After reviewing the KBDI index levels officials have found them to be between 600-700 range. Additionally, there are no chances for rain in the foreseeable future and forecasted temps are expected to be over 100 degrees for the next 10 days.  The burn ban will extend until conditions improve. Unincorporated Bexar, Guadalupe, and Comal Counties are also under a burn ban at this time.

Residents are advised to use caution with any type of heat source outside. Under the burn ban, no open flames are allowed outdoors to include previously permitted controlled burns, trash burning, campfires, and other unattended open flames. Residents are permitted to barbecue with an open flame as long as the grill has a lid and is set off the ground. Welders are encouraged to use a spotter for any outdoor welding and keep a water source nearby.

If you have any questions, please contact the Schertz Fire Department at (210) 619-1300.
