Join veteran publishers and editors, Max Booth III and Lori Michelle, as they lead an 8-month drop-in course on writing an effective short story. The first session will be held Tuesday, April 23rd at 6:30 PM and will go through November 2019. They will teach topics including: characterization, dialogue, how to avoid plot pitfalls, mistakes short story writers make and how to make your story marketable. This program is intended for adults and older teenagers (15+). Please bring a notebook and pen with you to the workshop and note that it is up to the writer how many sessions they wish to attend in the series, but topics will be different each month.

Want to get your memories into an album fast? Join us for a couple hours for a scrapbooking techniques class. Pre-registration required. Please bring the following supplies with you to class:
White/Black/cream 12x12 cardstock-plus cardstock and or pattern paper in colors that support the theme of prominent colors in the pictures
Adhesive-Elmer's craft bond permanent tape runner and refill cartridges
Black Journaling pen-Zig Millennium (Kristin prefers a.05, but you can purchase your perference)
Ruler Clear 12" long
Pencil with eraser, prefer mechanical
Craft Scissors-Cutter Bee precision tip
Paper trimmer- Fiskars rotary platform trimmer (not mandatory)
6-8 pictures of one event or person- or bring heritage photos
We will complete one 2 page layout in 12x12 format. All supplies can be found online or at a local craft store. Don't foget to use in app coupons!
Scrap booking classes on various topics will be held throughout the year.

Join us on Friday, May 24 for a special Movie in the Park Float & Flick at the Pickrell Park Pool! Make a splash this Memorial Day Weekend and enjoy Max, a movie about a highly trained military service dog who comes home from the war in Afghanistan to live with his former partner’s brother. The event starts at 7:00 PM and is free to the public. Cool off with refreshments available for purchase from Kona Ice and R&J Smokin. The movie will begin at sundown.
Please keep in mind, due to pool occupancy regulations, there will be a limit of 150 people in the pool at one time. If you wish to attend, please arrive early.

Cardiac arrest is an all too common and deadly event that can happen anywhere, anytime, to anyone. If more people know what to do, more people survive.
Schertz EMS will be offering for the first time a Take 10 minutes to learn compression only CPR class on Sunday, May 26 from 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Take 10 is a community-based CPR training that is simple, fast and FREE. Learners gain skill by practicing giving compressions and the confidence to act in an emergency.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) will honor the brave men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces for their selfless service by hosting its 5th Annual Memorial Day Ceremony with collaborative efforts from the City of Schertz at 9:00 AM on Monday, May 27 at the Veterans Memorial Plaza. This event is free and open to the public.
